Free Download: Joe Ford – Bring The Bass

Joe Ford has gathered a heap of critical acclaim over the last couple of years with his distinct neuro-funk drum and bass sound. More recently he’s been taking his assorted arsenal of basses and mixing it up a bit, most notably with this cheeky freebie, a mid tempo neuro-hop number, released in celebration of the ‘Neurohop’ Facebook page reaching 2000 likes.

Monday Bass Fix

My Sunday evenings are generally set aside for sitting on my arse and trawling the internet for new music, and then Monday evening is spent purchasing and listening to said new music. Here’s some of the choicest basssy cuts that I’ve dug up this week.

Mako is quickly cementing his reputation as a serious player on the Bass music circuit at the moment, and this preview from a tune off his upcoming EP shows exactly why. Tearing neuro-bass at it’s finest.

Koven has been busy already this year, with collaborations with Modestep, and remixes for Hadouken. Having the legendary DC Breaks give one of your tracks the Drum & Bass treatment is certainly not going to harm your reputation either. I’ll say one thing about this remix: TRIPLETS. Love a good triplet in a DnB tune.

Out 3rd March on Viper Records.

The duo formally known as Torqux and Twist have now re-branded as Torqux, and have returned with their first release under their new alias, on none other than Chase & Status’s label MTA. New name and fresh new styles, Torqux have dropped a three track EP of assorted basses on iTunes, and are hotly tipped as an act to watch for 2013!

Remix of the massive Teknian track, Behemoth, taken from the Sonic EP. I’m a huge fan of the original, and Dark Elixir has taken the tune up a notch, still keeping the dark and haunting atmosphere. No word of a release date yet, but there’s also a Kursa remix of this bomb floating around somewhere.

To balance out all this noisy and rowdy bass I’ve also come across a sweet little free download from Deekline & Ed Solo:

Bootleg garage remix of Disclosure’s massive hit ‘Latch’. Jumping on that garage bandwagon! And why the hell not indeed, when it sounds this good.

This free download serves as a bit of a promo for Deekline & Ed Solo’s new album, ‘Bounce N Shake’, a full 27 track LP spanning breaks, electro, dubstep and ambient vibes. This bumper album is available from Beatport for the measly sum of £8.61!!! Thats a little over 30 pence a track, which as I’m sure you will agree is a massive bargain.

Free download: Cerebral Cuts – Wave Architect EP – Wonk#ay Records

Brand new free music from the Wonderland fave Cerebral Cuts, courtesy of the good people over at Wonk#ay records.

931587590-1

Cerebral Cuts is an up and coming London based producer, specialising in atmospheric and laid back, yet full on bass heavy dubstep, and this FREE release, his debut on Wonk#ay records is probably his best to date.

The EP consists of four sublime tracks oozing a dark atmosphere that sucks you in and then massages your brain with bass. Here’s what Wonk#ay Records have to say about it:

“For his Wonkay Records debut, London boy Cerebral Cuts has hit the ground running. “Wave Architect” layers visceral rhythms and muddy, yearning soul samples to create a beguilingly dark sound that stretches and purrs it’s way into your thoughts, staying just long enough to leave you hungry for more…”

Good headphones, or a sub is highly advisable when listening to this EP, as is true of listening to any music for that matter, laptop speakers are not your friends!

Having played a plethora of gigs over the past year, noteably at Wonderland’s Fall’s Well party in October, and Elysian Project NYE, you can guarantee to see his name on a bunch more flyers this year, especially with releases like this!

Asa & Stumbleine – Glow (ViLLΛGE Remix)

New free music from Asa & Stumbleine, with Village on the remix.

This isn’t the first piece of music from Asa I’ve posted up, check out the ‘Withdrawal EP’ hereand also check out the collaboration project between Asa and Kursa, Vexisle

‘Glow’ was originally from Asa & Stumbleine’s ‘Your Secret EP’, on Inspected Records back in May last year, a beautiful chilled out affair, loaded to the nines with uplifting atmosphere and killer percussion and samples. Village, who hails from Romania, has taken ‘Glow’ and laced it with a healthy dollop of bass, giving it a trap-like feel to it, but still retaining the originals atmosphere and integrity.

I highly advise checking out Village’s back catalogue if you like what you hear here, the man has some serious tracks in his back catalogue.

Free to download from Asa’s Soundcloud page.

Pressed Records Xmas EP

We’re always on the lookout for some free tunes to keep those undeniable bass cravings at bay, and after chatting to Side Projekt at the last Wonderland (where he smashed out a storming set) I’ve been looking forward to getting my ears round this release.

Pressed Records is a brand new UK record label with some impressive signings, including label founder Medison, Ruckspin, Quantum Soul, Matta, and of course Side Projekt. For their first EP release they’ve compiled a 3 track deep dubstep EP showcasing their artists talent.

The quality of production throughout the EP is spot on, each track delivering bags of moody atmosphere, punctuated with tight percussion and hard hitting drums, with enough sub to keep all the bass heads happy.

Click on then link below and like the Pressed Records Facebook page to cop a hold of this FREE EP.

Pressed Records next release, due for early 2012, is an EP from one of Pressed’s MC’s, Marger. Production is by Medison and Ruckspin, and also features the now infamous on the UK bass music scene, Foreign Beggars.

Here’s the video for the title track, ‘Space’

There’s plenty more in the pipeline from this label for 2013, and having some the scenes fastest rising stars onboard is going to give them a lot of momentum, so keep your ears out for Pressed Records next year.

Beaton – The Great Dictator (Free Download)

Brand new FREE sounds from the massively talented Elysian Project resident, Wonderland favourite, and general all round lovely bloke, Beaton.

Specialising in drum and bass and jungle, Beaton’s sounds are top class, helped largely by his career in composition and sound engineering. Having worked on high profile advertising campaigns for the likes of Ikea and Mother London, as well as working as a programmer for major Hollywood features such as ‘Kick- Ass’ and ‘Suckerpunch’.

His latest tune is a stormer of a rolling jungle track, featuring a sample from the Charlie Chaplin film, ‘The Great Dictator’, and is being given away for absolutely nowt.

If you’re into you’re DnB and jungle, this free download is one not to be missed.

Kursa – URK EP (Adapted Records)

Kursa has once again dropped an absolutely banging, and totally free, 3 track EP. The URK EP has been released through Aussie label Adapted Records, and as with his previous releases, it is absolutely stonking.

The production quality and attention to detail across all three tracks is sublime. The first tune, ‘Water’ is a chillaxed dubstep affair, taking on an atmospheric and floaty vibe, with a seriously clean yet hard bass rumble punctuated by a whole host of stereo-panned samples and random percussion hits that take the ambiance to another level.

‘The Streets’ is the second track, switching up into the realms of neurohop. Hard hitting from the first beat thanks to Kursa’s trademark kicks and snares, with a hard hitting drop that will have you bopping like a mental patient. Completed with brilliant synth work and glitched out samples, the track has some fantastic progression throughout, which I am a big fan of in a tune.

The third and final track ‘Vexille’ is a cheeky drum and bass number, once again instantly noticeable as a Kursa track from the oh-so-crisp kick/snare combo. This tune manages to retaining a glitchy feel, thanks to the (frankly filthy) bassline, which is complemented by contrasting floaty synths.

AND ALL FOR BLOODY FREE!!!
